The award took place at Cardiff Stadium during an awards organised by the 160th Infantry Brigade, Army Headquarters Wales and Support for Britain's Reservists and Employers Wales (SaBRE).
The event was Wales’ first Employer Recognition Scheme Awards ceremony and recognises employers’ commitment at three levels. At the Bronze level employers are able to state their intent to support Defence, the regional Silver level recognises employers who actively demonstrate support and at the highest national level the Gold awards recognise those who have become advocates.
Brigadier Gamble, Commander 160th Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Wales and head of the Army in Wales, said: "The scheme provides a mechanism whereby Defence is able to acknowledge formally the support provided to the Armed Forces by all sectors of society. Here in Wales we are particularly proud to be an integral part of that society.
"The Armed Forces are made up of Regulars and Reserves and these awards include the support your organisations provide to the families of serving personnel as well as veterans, who number in excess of a quarter of a million here in Wales.
"It is also about the employment of those leaving the forces, which is a vital component of our transition process. The evening is our opportunity to recognise some of the public, private and third sector organisations with whom we have close links."
Chemical Corporation (UK) Ltd is proud to receive the Silver Award and to support the Armed Forces and the Reservists in our organisation.
Members of the Reserve Forces are very capable and disciplined. They can be relied upon to do a good job. Their military training makes them a considerable asset to any employer. The skills they learn such as leadership, self-confidence and the ability to perform well under pressure make them invaluable.
Reservists make up around 14% of the nation's total defence capacity which in turn makes them an essential part of our nations’ defence strategy. They are called upon as individuals for their specific skills or as ready-formed units to serve alongside the Regular Forces whenever required. Volunteer Reservists are called out to supplement the Regular Forces whenever Operational demands require it. When mobilised they carry out the same roles to the same high standards as their Regular counterparts. They also receive the same world-class training and develop the same skills.
