We’re very excited at the start of the new Formula 1 season, as technology changes, new V6 engines are introduced and a new driver line up make for the most anticipated season in recent years.
This weekend’s Australian Grand Prix also marks a major milestone for Mobil in celebration of a 20 year collaboration as McLaren’s technology partners and the 333rd race together in Albert Park.
Special events are planned for the weekend, and the race car will feature an exclusive Australian Grand Prix custom livery design, featuring highly prominent Mobil 1 and Mobil branding.
McLaren has a strong record in Melbourne, with six of the team’s 11 Australian Grand Prix wins coming at this Albert Park track. Jenson Button has won the race three times, and twice with McLaren Mercedes, so the omens look good for a strong performance to celebrate this milestone in style.
Jonathan Neale, Chief Operating Officer and Acting CEO of McLaren Mercedes said, "We are privileged to have worked closely with ExxonMobil over a very successful 20 years and counting. During 332 races together we have achieved four world championships, 78 wins, 229 podium finishes and 76 pole positions, which is testament to our powerful technology partnership. Seeing the Mobil fuels branding alongside Mobil 1 on the MP-4 29 is a great recognition of the relationship’s contribution to performance over our two decades together."
Mobil 1 and Mobil branded lubricants are available through Chemical Corporation (UK) Ltd - ExxonMobil’s authorised Mobil lubricants distributor for Wales and the South West.
